April means baseball and golf.

April was always a special month growing up in MN. First, it was Dad's birthday on the 4th, but then soon after came baseball and golf. We were all thrilled to have survived another Winter, and looked forward to the promise of Spring. The photo above is from April 2008, when we went to an Orioles game at Camden Yards. It was pretty nippy that day, and Dad wore my old PO winter coat to stay warm. But it was fun to initiate Spring with a baseball game. The O's played the Yankees if I recall correctly, but I don't remember who won.
April also turned our minds toward golf, and nothing got our juices flowing like the Masters. To see the lush fairways and greens, and the incredible azaleas got our hopes soaring that golf for us was just around the corner. Dad and I always talked about the Masters and who we were pulling for, and this weekend it was another stark reminder that he is not here. I really miss all our golf talks and his faithfulness to the Twins, regardless of how they were doing.
